Yuval Harari has a clear view on our future: Schools should stop cramming information. “The last thing a teacher needs to give her pupils is more information ” (Harari, 2019).
Then what should we be teaching? Harari has clear arguments to stress ‘critical thinking’ and ‘creativity’ on the one hand, and ‘communication’ and ‘collaboration’ on the other hand. “Most important of all will be the ability to deal with change, to learn new things and to preserve mental balance in unfamiliar situations ” (Harari, 2019).
How much closer can you come to ‘High Impact Learning’? Harari argues further the our traditional schooling model is obsolete and bankrupt. (2019, p. 307). Good to see that High Impact Learning found it’s way to practice in Northern Europe and several countries elsewhere.
